Keith' s Campbellford to Stirling Ride - August 25

Peterborough Dudes met in the commuter parking lot across from Burnham Mansion at 8:30 to carpool. We drove east on Hgw # 7 to Cty Rd 38 (Westwood turn), turning right & driving south on 38 to Cty Rd 2, east on 2 to Hastings, drove thru Hastings to Cty Rd 25, turning left on Cty Rd 35 to Cty Rd 30 & into Campbellford. Met Keith Buchanan in the Rotary Canal Park parking lot at the intersection of Grand Dr & Trent Dr. Keith led 9 Dudes over the canal to the Rainy Falls suspension bridge. After crossing the bridge over the Trent R, bottom 3 photos, we rode on a trail to Ferris Prov Pk where we took a grass trail, photo of Bill, to the intersection of Cty Rd 8 & Burnbrae Rd E. Cycled east on Burnbrae about 2 km to the rail trail. Cycled on the trail thru Hoards Station to the restored train station in Stirling, see photo. Then returned on the trail to Campbellford where we enjoyed lunch at Rubb' s Ribs. After lunch cycled on the cycling path beside the canal to our cars, top 4 photos. Thanks to Keith for organizing & leading us on this new ride of about 48 km thru the rolling hills of Hastings Cty. The trail is in good condition even though it has never been resurfaced. In the trail photos you can see the fallen tree that we had to navigate around. The Trans Canada Trail sign & the shelter that Doug is standing beside are located at the intersection of our trail & the trail from ? Trenton to Marmora & Tweed. Keith says that there are numerous cycling routes in this area. We met several ATVs taking advantage of these interconnected rail trails that the snowmobile clubs use & maintain.
