June 1 2011 - Doug’s Ennismore Ride

Doug Smith led 9 Dudes on this sunny, warm, but very windy day from Bridgenorth thru the backroads of Ennismore Twp. We met at the ball diamond parking lot just before Tim Hortons for a 10:00 am start, riding thru the side streets of Bridgenorth to the causeway, 1st photo. Cycled across the causeway into strong gusts of wind that made the crossing a challenge. Then cycled up Yankee Line to Tara Rd & the Quarry golf club. The next photo shows Pete Gardner doing his off road thing which caught the attention of the group! Continued on Tara Rd into Ennismore, next 3 photos. From Ennismore cycled west on Ennis Rd up a hill past the Tamarack golf club to Boundary Rd, next 2 photos, note the abandoned farmhouse.Headed north on Boundary where after another short climb, photo of Doug, from the "summit”you see Pigeon Lk in the distance, next photo (left click to enlarge), followed by a downhill cruise to the lake & Edenderry Line on which we rode east for 2 km to Inniscara Rd, left turn, followed by a right turn onto Kerry Line on which we cycled east across Tara Rd (Cty Rd 16), next photo, past Grandview Trailer Park to Tiperrary Rd, next photo. Tiperrary takes you along the shoreline of Buckhorn Lk to Edinderry riding west to Robinson Rd where we rode south to Listowel Line, next photo, & east to Brick Rd where we cycled south to Skyline Rd, photos of the guys turning, note the whitecaps on Chemung Lk in the background, west on Skyline to Robinson Rd & south for lunch at Jesse’s Tap & Grill on their enclosed patio at 12:15. After lunch we continued down Robinson Rd to the causeway, photo of the large whitecaps on Chemung showing the strength of the wind, returning to the cars at 2:00 pm. As the photos illustrate this is a scenic 35 km route thru the lovely Ennismore countryside & away from the lake the wind was tolerable. Our thanks to Doug for leading us thru this maze of township roads without getting lost & making the lunch reservations. It’s a shame that we couldn’t have selected one of the 2 rides because Terry’s Warsaw ride is also a gem that everyone would have enjoyed. Conrad led our 1st Dudes ride on the roads of Ennismore Twp in 2004.
